About Light The Night:

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night was a community event in the common to celebrate, honor, and remember those affected by blood cancers. According to the event planner, this is the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s biggest event in the New England area. Katelyn Moran, Campaign Development Specialist“This is Light the Night. It's a charity event benefiting the Leukemia Lymphoma society. Thousands of people will gather here to honor and remember loved ones who have either had cancer or are currently in treatment for it. There’s a walk around the park with lanterns, thus the name ‘light the night.” “This is the biggest event that we host in New England. Holding a red lantern means you are a supporter of blood cancer patients, holding a white lantern, means you are a survivor or patient, and holding a yellow lantern means that you have lost someone to blood cancer or any form of cancer.” Jay Arthur Thistle Communications“I don't think anybody these days doesn't know somebody who's suffered from cancer; It's always personal. Last week, we did an event for Alzheimer's; the week before we did it for the American Cancer Society. There's a ton of charity walks that were supporting all around the city.” “It's nice to see all the support we're getting for this event. As you look around and see all the different tents, they signify each different team that's walking and raising money. So at the end of the day, there's a nice check that will be handed over to the leukemia society.”
